Pathway Homes

Can you believe it’s nearly a year since we launched our Friday Finisher at Pathway Homes?

Since its launch on World Mental Health Day last October, our Friday Finisher has become an important date in our organisation’s monthly calendar. Once a month, on a Friday afternoon, we invite the team to finish at 3pm, and together we embark on a relaxing walk from our HQ, giving everybody a chance to unwind and enjoy a chat away from the office.

It has proven to be a genuinely uplifting exercise and the perfect start to the weekend for the team. The consensus has been universally positive, even during the cold and wet winter months.

Our office manager, Laura Sharpe, has recently reflected on the Friday Finisher wellbeing exercise, stating “as an organisation, we are committed to supporting and embracing all initiatives that positively impact our people’s mental and physical wellbeing, which is why we launched our monthly Friday Finisher walk last year”.

She continued: “It’s been great to see how our Friday Finisher has become an integral part of our month at Pathway Homes. These regular walks allow everybody to enjoy some fresh air and enjoy a chance to decompress and unwind. One of the things we’ve learned from taking part in our Friday Finisher is the magic of our team. We have a real sense of community in our workforce, and everybody enjoys a chat and a catch-up away from our everyday work routines. Our move of office earlier in the year has also helped make this wellbeing initiative what it is with access to the lovely promenade now on our doorstep”.

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, introducing initiatives to promote physical and mental health to our employees has become more important than ever. We believe that a happy, healthy and well-supported workforce is essential in building a thriving business. After all, we spend the majority of our week in the workplace, so we understand the importance of workforce wellbeing. The World Health Organisation considers wellbeing at work “a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing”, encompassing all areas of working life.

For Pathway Homes, we have fostered an environment that promotes ongoing conversations around the importance of mental health and wellbeing, and we are proud of the support available to our team and how they have established positive relationships with one another and provide ongoing support to their colleagues.

We’re already looking forward to our next stroll with gorgeous sea views of the River Mersey. Stay tuned for some photographs!
